Denny's
Location:
Ridge Rd, W. Seneca, NY
Time: 11:45am, week
day.
Comments:
It's not just for 3:00am
anymore!
First rule of dining out:
Never knock a staple. I'd almost venture to say Denny's is the Waffle House
of the North, but I wouldn't want to cheapen the review. Instead, I'll compare
it to a Perkin's for the middle class. Denny's serves breakfast 24 hours a day
(although they hike up the prices using an consolidated menu for the "after
hours" crowd). It's a win for everyone. Breakfast is probably the easiest
of meals to prepare, centering around eggs, pancakes, and other quick grill
items. In fact, I'd bet toast takes the longest to prepare. And yet, eggs are
versatile enough to satisfy the entire audience. But I digress - I'm not reviewing
breakfast.
Nine of us went to Denny's
today. We were seated almost immediately. Our drink orders were quickly filled
and our waitress was attentive. In fact, I was brought my second water before
finishing my first and without asking. She was also good about keeping us informed
and intuitive enough to offer us separate checks. Excellent service as a whole.
Location was standard for
Denny's, neutral in decor and par for cleanliness. Of the nine of us, seven
of us ordered breakfast. The closest I heard to a complaint was that the pancakes
were too large. With that in mind, the standard syrup serving size was inadequate.
Presentation and meal quality were very good, the menu was was accommodating
(substitutions were well received), and overall value for cost scores a high
mark. Denny's is definitely a viable option for the lunch crowd.
