"My X Diet"
Tracking my 13 weeks (hopefully) of low-carb diet with P90X. No before pictures as I am that self-conscious.

Big day today - WiiFit called me overweight (it usually called me obese). Lunch today are lettuce wraps - turkey, asparagus, cheese, and spicy mustard

Lunch snack. By the way, FiberOne makes a great cottage cheese! 5g of fiber, low fat, tastes like whole milk.

current weight 229;
On Sunday I bought a pull-up bar. Agonized for 20 minutes choosing which walmart product to buy. Gold's Gym makes some crappy $20 pull up bar, but the bar sits flush with the door opening, making it impossible to use any of the grip beyone your door frame (forget wide-front pull ups). I don't even remember the other two brands, but they were 35.99 and 39.99, both had padded grips, and both seemed decent. In fact, i don't even know which one I bought
Here's the thing though...
I'm sure it's known that a very small percentage of people can even do a real pull up. Most of us, myself included, are just hoping to get there. I'm sure it's also known that most of the target audience for these products are lazy americans with good intentions, fat wallets, and no follow-through. So the companies producing these products probably don't put a whole lot of money towards research and development. It's actually pretty disgusting.
I fully expect my pull-up bar to bend, bow, break, or pull down my door molding within 6 months. And yet, I bought the product and I will commit to using it. And that's mainly because the Gold's Gym resistance bands i was using instead of a pull up bar have mostly failed. Of the 6 bands and 4 grips I purchased (two boxed sets), two bands have snapped, two grips are cracked, and one band has a crack on the clip that I taped with electrical tape. On top of that, the clips on my two remaining grips frequently failed causing one or more bands to release and whip back against my door frame.
In short, don't expect to find quality gym products at walmart. Or perhaps the lesson is you get what you pay for. I think free weights are the only safe bet

Sugar free cheesecake... Well, I used splenda so it's technically not sugar free. It's also super low carb. Instead of a graham cracker crust, I chopped up almonds with cocoa powder and vanilla extract to make a small crust. Not bad for a no-bake cheesecake

Pasta isn't typically part of the low carb diet but Dreamfield's makes a pasta with "protected" carbs. A serving amounts to 5 net carbs. Threw together this crab meat and broccoli bake in about 5 minutes plus boil time

back from vacation.... followed the diet for the first 7 days, let myself cheat on the last 2.5.
After 9 days of rich foods and lack of workout, i return 230lbs.... only a pound or so above my previous best. I suppose the swimming daily helped. Or maybe i'm just dehydrated.
Back to work this week!!!
